IIFTI is organising the Symposium ( SAIFI ) in partnership with : the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), a multilateral development financial institution and is part of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group, and the Global University Of Islamic Finance (INCEIF) and under the auspices of the central bank of Malaysia (Negara Bank).
The main objective of SAIFI is to create a custom of meetings among French-speaking decision makers of Financial Institutions, as well as the implementation of Islamic Finance in Africa

At the end of the Symposium (SAIFI), INCEIF - the 1st Business School in Islamic Finance - will award participants a professional certificate, the first of its kind for decision makers of Francophone financial institutions.

Regulatory and Charia Compliance in Islamic Banks
Venue:
The points that will be developed during this session are :
- The submission of Islamic finance to a double reference: positive law on the one hand and the principles of Islamic finance on the other.
-The importance of ethical oversight provided by Sharia committees.
- The doctrinal support of Sharia committees in the exercise of their missions: AAOIFI standards as a partial codification of Muslim financial law.
- Dispute resolution and applicable law: how to reconcile positive law and charatic rules?
- Specificities of the Islamic finance contracts and the place of the clauses to insert.br> - Towards a protective legal framework for holders of unrestricted participatory accounts: from simple information to a representative body.

- Provides an overview of the importance and principles of governance (this topic has been of particular interest to the Basel Committee by publishing specific prudential recommendations in 1999) br> -Examine the functions and correlations between the board of directors, the charia committee and the audit committee, in the implementation of good governance in Islamic banks
- Clarify the relationship between the principles of governance and Islamic governance, it will focus also on the convergence of the principles of governance and sharia, and gives an overview on Islamic governance. br>

Islamic Banking Risk management
Venue:
This session:
- will expose the risks of the banking business in general, and will analyze in particular the risks specific to Islamic banks. Bank risks (counterparty, market, liquidity, operational, charia noncompliance, investment ...) and the means to control them will be developed based on the evolution of the profession and international regulation aimed better governance. br>- Will make a reading of the main Islamic banking products through a risk perspective and will question the degree of exposure of these banks, in comparison with conventional banks.
- Analyze the evolution of the international regulation of banking risk management (from Basel I to Basel III). It will raise the specifics of Islamic banks in this area and highlight the necessary adjustments, in particular those proposed by the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB). br>

Audit in Islamic Banks (Role of Audit Committee)
Venue:
This session :
Will mainly discuss the role and responsibilities of the Audit Committee.
- Look at the basics of creating the county audit, it will provide the necessary information relevant to this committee, it will deal mainly with the creative phase with all its details.
Will also analyze the relationship of the audit committee with the board of directors and the various bodies and actors related to the bank.

During the 3 days of the program, there will be:

- A coffee break from 10:30 to 11:00
- A lunch break + Prayer from 13:00 to 15:00 and, a 30-minute debate at the end of each session.
- 2 activities In each session (of course): -lecture - Case study discussion (comparing various types of shariah financial activities applied by islamic banks in different countries).
Results of the program

1- At the end of the symposium, participants will be able to :

a) Comprehend the application of Shari’ah principles in financial industries, and
b) Identify the roles of board of directors in regards of a good governance framework and risk management for islamic financial institutions
2- At the end of the symposium, INCEIF - the 1st Business School in Islamic Finance - will award participants a professional certificate, the first of its kind for decision makers of Francophone financial institutions.

3- At the end of the symposium, a dashboard for good governance and good risk management will be developed.
